Martinborough Escape – January 2017

This time I booked on Holiday Houses which took me to the BachCare website to pay.  It was a bit misleading as the Holiday Houses website had four bedrooms but when it came time to pay on Bach Care there was a separate unit with the forth bed at an extra cost.

That aside we meet the BachCare guy at the house to be let in and he went through how some things worked.  This was new to me as with Bookabach they generally send you an email a few days before your arrival, with all the access details.

The main open plan living area was very spacious with high ceilings and very light.   The kitchen was great with everything we needed, although the wine glasses and others were small so bring your own.   We were there to enjoy a girlie weekend of food and wine.

The grounds were very expanse with Petenque and Croquet available.  We read and relaxed and without any recliner outdoor chairs we pulled out blankets and pillows.

Each of the three bedrooms in the house had their own ensuite which suited us ladies and the beds were very comfortable.  You do have to bring your own linen to this house and don’t forget a bath mat for each ensuite as it got a bit slippery without them.  We even needed to supply our own tea towel which again is new to me and not something I have ever had to do with any Bookabach place, even when we had to take our own linen.

We did walk to the main shops which were about 10 mins away and we took different routes just to be able to checkout all the lovely houses.  We even discovered a public pool with a caravan park next door to it.

Saturday we ventured out to Poppies vineyard, we were lucky getting in as I had only booked the day before and it was due to rain but it never did so they rung me in the morning to say we could sit outside.  They are not a restaurant but they do do a platter and oh what a platter they do do.

The Rosé was beautiful and such an amazing colour.  You can only purchase Poppie wine at the vineyard, the Rosé is $35 a bottle.

Not a bad wee spot, but my preference would be not to book through BachCare if I can help it.
